Arms For Elephants Releases New EP and Rocked The What's Up Lounge

It was another Saturday night of great local music at The What's Up Lounge on July 28th.  Arms For Elephants were the main reason for this show as they were supporting their new EP, "All Rise".  Joining them was Throw the Fight and Common Choir.  I've been arriving late since I'm trying to get some landscaping done as of late, but I don't think I missed too much of the show.

Common Choir was getting things kicked off and was probably about 15 minutes into their set.  The place was pretty busy, which was impressive considering the amount of things going on locally again this weekend.  There wasn't as much movement on the tiny stage as I had seen from them last time at The Cabooze, but the singer certainly made the best of it.  Hard hitting and loud, Common Choir rocked the crowd and got everyone ready for more!

Next up was Throw the Fight.  It seems like it was the same show as The Cabooze a few months back, but the energy was much different this time around.  The guys would often leave the stage to play in the crowd and even go crowd surfing while playing.  They had turned off the two side LED lights and only had two worklights pointed at them for this set.  Difficult for me as a photographer, but enough light for the crowd to get the idea of what was happening on stage.  Throw the Fight certainly delivered the next level of energy to get everyone ready for the main event of the night.

Arms For Elephants took the stage the way they always did, starting with what I would describe as a pre-show prayer.  It was the calm before the storm, because the entire band turned around and blew the roof off of The What's Up!  They played a great mix of their own songs, both old and new, and even through in a cover of "The Kill".  The energy when that song was played was amazing.  I watched as the crowd sang along with a fierceness that I hadn't seen in a long time.  The same could be said for all of Arms For Elephants original music as well.  It's clear that the guys have a great time performing and they feed off the energy that flows onstage from the crowd.  I try not to miss any shows by these guys because each one is a treat.  Be on the lookout for these guys because Arms For Elephants puts on a show you don't want to miss.

As always, get out and support live music and I'll see you out there.
