Dan + Shay Makes the Ladies of Mankato Swoon
Dan + Shay has been touring in support of their newest album, "Obsessed", and Mankato, MN was lucky enough to have been on the list of places to stop! There was immediate interest right from the time the show was announced, so it was no surprise that there was a good sized line outside the Verizon Center before the doors opened at 7:00. Even with that long line, the venue got everyone in quickly, as they usually do, and the people ran to line up as close to the stage a possible.
The Plott Hounds were announced to open the show and I was excited to see them live again. They had a larger stage to work with this time and they certainly made use of it. The Plott Hounds put on a high energy show all while getting the crowd involved. Kirk Humbert and Jeff Powell's skillful guitar playing and Noah Alexander's powerful voice got everyone up and moving right away. Those that weren't singing along were captured in their performance. I certainly enjoyed their set and The Plott Hounds were a great choice to open up the show!
After a very quick stage change Dan + Shay took to the stage and were met with screams from all the ladies in the crowd, (which was well over half in attendance)! They started out fast and had the crowd waving their hands in the air and singing along instantly. Their cover of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name", resulted in pretty much everyone singing along. The full wall of lights at the back of the stage created diamond patterns and lit up the crowd nicely to pull them into the performance even more. Each song that they played was met with cheers and they all kept up the energy through the entire set. The spotlight stayed mostly on the Dan and Shay, but every now and then the light would pass over the other band members allowing the crowd to see them better. Mankato certainly enjoyed Dan + Shay and showed them that Mankato appreciated that they made a stop here!
