Earth, Wind, and Fire Jam at the Xcel Energy Center

Anyone looking for a dance party on Thursday, July 27th found it at the Xcel Energy Center!  Earth, Wind, and Fire  with CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers made a stop on their current "2054 The Tour" tour.  There was a pretty decent turnout for the show, but it started slowly.  Shooting this show for 105.5 The River, I arrived and was escorted into the soundboard area to shoot my photos and noticed there wasn't a large number of people yet.  Shortly after I got my area set up to shoot, the first group took the stage.

CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers was the first to come out on stage.  Any doubt about the crowd turnout was quickly diminished as everyone heard the music start and rushed to their seats.  It turned into a dance party pretty quick with even the first two songs they played having the word dance in the title.  People could be found dancing and singing throughout the entire venue.  They played a good variety of songs including those sung by Diana Ross, Sister Sledge, and Daft Punk.  Needless to say, the crowd was very pleased by the time CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers ended their set.

Even though the bar was set pretty high, the crowd at the Xcel roared once Earth, Wind, and Fire took the stage.  Even from the soundboard, you could see they were having a great time on stage right from the start!  Their upbeat songs had the crowd up and dancing once again.  A multi-tiered stage full of people with screens behind them is what the crowd saw while watching the show.  I was surprised by the amount of action and movement from the band members.  These guys really know how to put on a show!  Earth, Wind, and Fire was a great show to catch and I wish I could have stayed a little longer to enjoy the party!
