Late Night Fights, Lake Avenue, and The Missing Letters Play at The What's Up Lounge

There was a great show at The What's Up Lounge on Friday, March 3rd with 3 amazing bands from the Twin Cities area!  Late Night Fights, Lake Avenue, and The Missing Letters have all pulled in big crowds in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, but the show of support for local music from Mankato residents was disappointing, to say the least.  On the plus side, I had pretty much my own private show by these three wonderful bands, but if shows like this keep happening, it won't be long until The What's Up is done.  Everyone missed a really good show.

At any rate, I was able to sit down with all the bands for an interview before the show.  Look for that footage soon so you can watch and learn more about each of the bands!

The Missing Letters started out the show.  It had been a while since I had seen them and they sounded fantastic!  The best way I can describe their sound is rock with blues mixed in.  No matter how I describe it, they certainly rocked!  There is a lot of live footage on YouTube, so do a quick search for The Missing Letters and give them a listen.

Next up was Lake Avenue.  Even though there were band members that I had seen before, I had never seen them play as Lake Avenue.  So, after listening to a few songs online, I was excited to see them live.  They did not disappoint.  Even with the lead singer battling a cold, they sounded amazing.  I will definitely be catching up with Lake Avenue in the future!

Closing out the show was Late Night Fights.  Again, I had seen them play on multiple occasions in the past, but it had been a while.  This three piece can certainly rock a room.  They cranked the level way past 10, even though there wasn't many people at the venue still.  They were joking and having a great time in between songs as well.  Late Night Fights put on a great performance just like they were playing for a sold out crowd!

So, my question after this show is this.  How do we get you out to a show in Mankato?  We have a great opportunity to see live music, but not many seem to take advantage of it.  Maybe the days of heading out to see new bands is over in this town?  What would make this happen again for you?  Leave a comment and discuss.  Let's see if we can't make the next show better!

As always, get out and support live music and I'll see you out there!
