Meridian Incident Debuts New Album, "Istology", at Parkway Theater

I am always honored when bands invite me out for their album release shows.  A lot of hard work goes into an album and for them to think of me to capture the show means so much to me.  This was the case for Meridian Incident.  I had seen many announcements for the show and was asked the week of the show to come out.  Of course I accepted.

I got to the venue a little after 7:00 pm.  Parkway Theater was a new venue for me and it seemed like many others as well.  It was tucked away in the suburbs, but it's truly a unique place.  Once the music started, the sound was amazing as well!  There weren't as many people there to start with, but I know that Cracked Ice was also going on.  It did fill up slowly throughout the night.

The lighting was nearly non-existent during the show making good photos really hard to get and many of them ended up blurry due to the slow shutter speeds.  I was pretty hopeful when they were testing the lights because there was quite a few LED groupings, but they were rarely used.  I certainly pushed the limits of my gear at this show, but enough about the lighting.

The Great Went started out the show a little before 8:00.  During their first song, I expected them to start singing, but they never did.  It was pretty cool watching the instrumental performance.  Each song they played was different, which kept the set interesting.

Next up was Vaudeville.  It seems I photograph them about every 2 months lately!  The lighting went down a little more during their set, which made photos even more difficult.  They still had a ton of energy for the show, even with the singer having a pretty bad headache throughout the set.  Their cover of Led Zeppelin's song, "House of the Rising Sun", gets better each time I hear it.

Finally, it was time to see the result of all the hard work Meridian Incident has put into the album and the show for that album.  "Istology" is the name of the new album and they played it in its entirety for the show.  It was so much more than a regular performance though.  They had images and bits of film playing on the screen behind them throughout the entire performance.  I can't imagine how much work it took to get everything together for this show.  The new album is amazing though.  Seeing Meridian Incident perform it live for the first time was a real treat.

The shows are really starting up again now that winter is winding down.  Look for more show reviews here and be sure to "Like" us on Facebook.  Also, check out all the bands featured in this review and show your support by purchasing a shirt, album, or head out and see them live!

As always, get out and support live music and I'll see you out there.
